General information
PE-Xb (silane cross-linked polyethylene) is produced by cross-linking high-density polyethylene molecules using the silane method. After production, the pipes are passed through a 65 °C water bath to strengthen the bond structure. The cross-linking degree is ≥ 65%, providing high temperature and pressure resistance along with shape memory.
The EVOH barrier layer prevents oxygen in the surrounding environment from diffusing through the pipe wall into the system. This prevents oxygen-induced corrosion in metal components such as boilers, pumps and manifolds, and significantly reduces the formation of micro-organisms and algae in the system water.
In spiralled (sheathed) pipes, the pipe moves freely inside a sheath of larger diameter. The sheath provides impact protection and, thanks to the air layer between it and the pipe, reduces heat loss and allows expansion.
